UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Ashley Shay, director of the Metabolomics Core Facility at Penn State’s Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences, has been named the recipient of the Excellence in Metabolomics Support Award from the Early Career Members (ECM) group of the Metabolomics Association of North America (MANA).
The award recognizes core facility employees for outstanding efforts in supporting metabolomics research, which involves studying small molecules such as proteins and sugars in biological tissues. Shay’s name was nominated for consideration by multiple users of the Metabolomics Core Facility.
“I am deeply honored to have been nominated by the users of the Penn State Metabolomics Core Facility and to receive the MANA-ECM Excellence in Metabolomics Support Award,” Shay said. “This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the trust and support of the researchers we serve. ... I am sincerely grateful to all of the faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars and students who have collaborated with and relied on the facility for their metabolomics and lipidomics research. Their innovative work and continued engagement make it possible for the facility to fulfill its mission of advancing scientific discovery. MANA is a non-profit organization established in 2018 to advance metabolomics research and foster collaboration among scientists across Canada, Mexico and the United States. MANA ECM was formed to empower the next generation of North American metabolomics scientists through mentorship, networking and professional development.
