HAZLETON, Pa. — Young athletes from across the area will have an opportunity to sharpen their basketball fundamentals and build confidence on the court at Penn State Hazleton’s girls’ basketball skills camp, scheduled for Monday, Aug. 10, through Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the campus’ Physical Education Building.

Designed for girls ages 10-16, the three-day camp will focus on developing core basketball skills, including dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, footwork and game strategy. Participants will learn through hands-on instruction provided by experienced coaches and college players.

The camp will run from 4 to 7 p.m. each day and feature skill-development stations, shooting and ball-handling drills, defensive and offensive training, competitive games, scrimmages, and contests with prizes. The program is designed to meet the needs of both beginning players and those seeking to elevate their game.

In addition to basketball instruction, campers will be encouraged to develop teamwork, communication, sportsmanship and leadership skills. The program aims to provide a positive and supportive environment where young athletes can grow, make connections and strengthen their love for the sport.

The cost of the camp is $100 per participant for the three-day, nine-hour experience. Online registration is available at girls’ basketball skill camp. A confirmation email will be sent to participants before the start of the program.

Campers are asked to bring a drink, snacks and appropriate athletic footwear, such as sneakers or basketball shoes.
