Harrisburg's Capstone Design Conference to showcase student innovation, creativity

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering, and Technology (SSET) will hold its annual Capstone Design Conference from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 24 in the Educational Activities Building (EAB) and Student Enrichment Center (SEC) on campus.

Each year, SSET students culminate their undergraduate studies with a Capstone Design Project. These senior projects for engineering and computer science students are a long-standing tradition, where students are given the opportunity to combine classroom learning with real-life applications, as well as collaborate with industry sponsors.

David W. Caddick, Sr., founder and president of Caddick Construction, will serve as the keynote speaker.

The schedule of events includes:

  • 11 a.m. – Lunch
  • 11:15 a.m. – Order of the Engineer Ring Ceremony

    • Location: EAB 102; Zoom link available by request

  • Noon – Student project exhibition and demonstrations

    • Location: EAB

  • 4 p.m. – Light refreshments

    • Location: SEC lobby

  • 4:15 p.m. – Welcome by Shirley Clark, interim director, School of Science, Engineering, and Technology

    and keynote address by David W. Caddick Sr.

    • Location: Kulkarni Theatre, SEC; Zoom link available by request

  • 4:30 p.m. – Awards ceremony presented by Kiana Karami, assistant professor of electrical engineering
