MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Penn State Harrisburg’s Center for Holocaust and Jewish Studies will host Julie R. Ancis at noon on Friday, Feb. 7, via webinar. She will discuss her analysis of antisemitism in psychological organizations.
Ancis is a distinguished professor and former interim chair in the Department of Informatics and founding director of the cyberpsychology program at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. She is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and has been active in leadership roles in the APA and other organizations, such as serving as chair of APA’s Society of Counseling Psychology’s Section for the Advancement of Women. She has received numerous awards and honors, including Woman of the Year from the Section on the Advancement of Women.
Her extensive scholarly publications include four books; more than 80 journal articles, book chapters and technical reports; and more than 200 professional presentations focused on diversity, multicultural competence, the legal system and human-computer interaction. Ancis is the founder and president of Psychologists Against Antisemitism, established in May 2021. Her current research is about online antisemitism.
