UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Global and the J. Jeffrey and Ann Marie Fox Graduate School at Penn State support graduate student international travel through travel grants that assist students in presenting their own research or exhibitions at a variety of international events.

The application for the Fall 2025 Penn State Graduate Student International Travel Grants is now open. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on Oct. 2.  Announcements of awards will be approximately mid-November.

These events must be outside the United States. The grants may not be used to fund research, workshops, internships or similar activities. Graduate student travel grants are intended to promote Penn State’s global leadership in a wide range of research and scholarship.

Funded travel must be completed within Fiscal Year 2026 (July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026). Graduate students planning to present at a conference or other activity on or after July 1, 2026, should wait until the Spring 2026 application period, which will be available in January-February 2026.  If awarded, funds are transferred to the awardee's academic department.

International graduate students are welcomed and encouraged to apply.

Awards are contingent upon the availability of funds and the number of applications received. Awards are contingent upon the paper/presentation having been accepted at an international conference. However, students can apply before the conference organizers have made any selections. Awards will not exceed $1500 per awardee. Awards will be announced approximately one month after the application deadline.

Award recipients must follow Penn State's international travel policies including recording travel information with the Global Safety Network database. Award recipients will be asked to complete a post travel summary that may be used for news articles or other reporting.
