UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Learning Factory will host its Open House Closed Shop Event from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, on the fourth floor of the Engineering Design and Innovation Building. Students will have a chance to explore the facility’s resources, meet organizations that utilize its space and learn more about opportunities available through the Learning Factory.
The event will use a club-fair style format and feature displays from a variety of student clubs and organizations that regularly partner with the Learning Factory. Attendees will be able to see firsthand how these groups use the facility’s equipment, labs and collaborative spaces to pursue hands-on projects.
“This is an event that promotes engagement at the Learning Factory and informs students of the opportunities available to them at the facility,” said Anchal Amin, undergraduate representative for strategic communications at the Learning Factory. “This will be a great way for students to learn more about organizations and understand how they interact with the Learning Factory.”
The Learning Factory, located in the College of Engineering, provides students access to advanced equipment and tools that support experiential learning in design, manufacturing and prototyping. From 3D printers and machine tools to collaborative workspaces, the facility serves as a hub for interdisciplinary innovation and applied learning.
The Open House Closed Shop offers a unique opportunity for students to engage directly with the organizations and peers who bring the facility to life. Amin said the event is meant to highlight the inclusive nature of the Learning Factory and encourage broader participation from the Penn State community and is open to all Penn State students.
