Students, staff and faculty members from Penn State's College of Education share recent research and career achievements.
- Sophia L. Ángeles, assistant professor of multilingual education, is lead author of a new article, “‘We Call Them International Students’: The Consequences of the Newcomer and International Student Labels for Immigrant Students in Public Schools.”
- Soo-yong Byun, professor of education, demography, and Asian studies, is lead author of a recently published article, “Does Shadow Education Affect Behavioral (Dis)Engagement? Evidence from South Korean Elementary School Students,” in Comparative Education Review.
- Mariah Harmon, assistant professor of education (curriculum and instruction), authored a research review, “From Object to Subject: Exploring the absent presence of Black women preservice teachers in teacher education literature,” now published in Educational Researcher.
- Brandy Henry, assistant professor of rehabilitation and human services, is lead author of a new article, “Opioid use disorder Cascade of Care: defining a taxonomy for measurement,” in The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse.
- Dana Mitra, professor of education policy studies, was a guest on the latest episode of “Time For Teachership podcast: 213. The Latest Student Voice Research & Tools with Dr. Dana Mitra.”
- Carlomagno Panlilio, associate professor of educational psychology, is among a group of faculty members who have been awarded funding to support six projects through its University-sponsored endowment. Panllilio is principal investigator of the project, “Examining the neural correlates of reading comprehension, metacognition, and maltreatment.” His collaborating investigators are Matthew McCrudden, professor of educational psychology; and Koraly Pérez-Edger, McCourtney Professor of Child Studies and professor of psychology.
