Students, staff and faculty members from Penn State's College of Education share recent research and career achievements.
- Brittany Aronson, associate professor of education, is lead author of a new paper, “Critical community building in action: a triad of faculty, graduate and undergraduate students working for racial justice,” in International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education.
- Katerina Bodovski, professor of education (educational theory and policy), authored a recently published article, "Emotional Capital and Compassionate Educational Space: Reflection on One Undergraduate Course."
- Annie Everett, a doctoral candidate in higher education, is lead author of a new paper, “Tennessee’s Burden: How Students Apply for State Financial Aid within One Southern State.” Kelly Rosinger, associate professor of education (education and public policy) and Hyung-Jung Kim, another doctoral student in higher education, are co-authors on the paper.
- Jennifer Jackson, a doctoral candidate in science education, has been honored as the June 2024 Holmes Scholar of the Month by the AACTE (American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education) Holmes Scholars Program. Jackson’s research focuses on how secondary science teachers communicate within professional learning spaces while attending to equitable, culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Jilli Jung, a doctoral candidate in educational policy, is lead author of a new paper, “Do later school start times improve adolescents' sleep and substance use? A quasi-experimental study.”
- Dana Patenaude, a doctoral student in special education, is lead author of a recently published article, “Using Visual Scene Displays With Young Children: An Evidence-Based Practice Synthesis.” David McNaughton, professor of education (special education) is a co-author on the paper.
- Kelly Rosinger, associate professor of education (education and public policy), is lead author of a recently released working paper, “Exploring the Relationship Between Test-Optional Admissions and Selectivity and Enrollment Outcomes During the Pandemic.”
- Heather Toomey Zimmerman, professor of education (learning, design, and technology) is co-author of a new article, “The Intertwining of Children’s Interests and Micro-Practices at a Science Museum: Case Study of Three Children.”
