Students, staff and faculty members from Penn State's College of Education share recent research and career achievements.
- Sophia L. Ángeles, assistant professor of multilingual education, authored an article, “Estar Aquí en Los Estados Unidos. Y Visitar a Mi Mamá’: Newcomer Youth’s Border-Crossing Dreams,” recently published in Multicultural Perspectives.
- Soo-yong Byun, professor of education, demography, and Asian studies, contributed to a book, “Middle Class Challenges and Contested Futures in the USA and South Korea,” published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing.
- Rohitha Edara, a doctoral student in the Department of Education Policy Studies, is lead author of a recently released policy brief, “Racial/Ethnic Composition and Segregation in ECE.” Her co-authors are Karen Babbs Hollett, assistant teaching professor of education; and Erica Frankenberg, professor of education and demography.
- Ed Fuller, professor of education, was interviewed for a CBS News report, “Nearly 9,000 teachers in Pennsylvania left the profession in 2024. Experts reveal possible reasons why.”
- On Aug. 7, Assistant Director of Development April Gable placed first in the Adult Women’s Artistic Twirling category at the International Baton Twirling Federation Nation’s Cup in Torino, Italy.
- Brandy Henry, assistant professor of rehabilitation and human services, is lead author of a new article, “A longitudinal mixed methods social network analysis to evaluate a peer-led housing program for older men returning from incarceration: Study protocol & pre-implementation results,” in Health & Justice.
- Lydia Ocasio-Stoutenburg, assistant professor of special education, is lead author of an article, “’Moving from Silence into Language and Action.’ (Re)Imagining Advocacy with Black Motherscholars and Their Motherwork Across Multiple Contexts,” recently published in Equity & Excellence in Education.
