Richard Bundy Jr., professor emeritus of music and former director of the Penn State Blue Band, is one of eight Penn State alumni selected by the Penn State Board of Trustees who will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award. Bundy earned a bachelor of science degree from the College of Education in 1970 and a doctor of education degree from the College of Arts and Architecture in 1987.

Miles McGeehan, who received a bachelor of science in biology and a bachelor of science in secondary science education from Penn State in 2002, is a recipient of the 2025 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). PAEMST is the highest recognition that a kindergarten through 12th-grade science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) teacher may receive for outstanding teaching in the United States. McGeehan is a high school biology and Advanced Placement biology teacher and serves as the science department leader for Bozeman High School in Bozeman, Montana.

Rebecca Schreiber, who received a master of education in higher education from Penn State World Campus in 2024, was awarded with the 2025 Financial Aid Change Maker Award from the Association of American Law Schools Section on Pre-Law Education and Admission to Law School. The award “is to recognize an individual or team that has created structural and systemic change in financial aid innovation or delivery in an effort to increase access to legal education and diversify the legal profession.” Schreiber is currently director of admissions and financial aid at Penn State Dickinson Law.

John G. Wortman, a social science and gifted support teacher at West Forest in Tionesta, Pennsylvania, has been selected by the Penn State College of Education and its Alumni Society to receive the 2024 Outstanding Teaching Award.. Wortman graduated from the College of Education in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education (social studies) and in 2020 with a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction (social studies).
