UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Dickinson Law alumna Kaitlyn Box was recently named partner at Cyrus D. Mehta & Partners PLLC in New York. Box joined the firm immediately following her graduation from Penn State Dickinson Law in University Park in 2020.
While at the law school, Box was part of the Center for Immigrants’ Rights Clinic, where she gained hands on experience in immigration law. She spent a week serving as an advocate through the clinic for families at the Berks County Residential Center in Leesport, Pennsylvania, working to help families navigate new and complex immigration laws and policies. Notably, she was also a contributor to the clinic’s comprehensive self-help guide for asylum-seekers, published in collaboration with the University of Maine School of Law Refugee and Human Rights Clinic, the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project, and Thrive International Programs.
During her tenure at Dickinson Law, Box also co-wrote an article with Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia, Samuel Weiss Faculty Scholar, clinical professor of law, and director of the Center for Immigrants’ Rights Clinic, titled "COVID-19 and Immigration: Reflections from the Penn State Law Center for Immigrants’ Rights."
“Box’s performance in the classroom and clinic was superb and her elevation to partner is no surprise,” said Wadhia. “Her work in immigration will continue to have a profound impact on the lives of individuals and families as well as the legal profession.”
Mehta & Partners recognized Box’s ability to take on “challenging and complex cases with precision and ingenuity” and describing her contributions to the firm as “pivotal.” She has played an instrumental role in management of the firm, recruitment, technological advancements, and even an acquisition.
Cyrus D. Mehta, founder and managing partner of the firm, said, “Kaitlyn’s journey from a promising graduate to a leader in our firm exemplifies her unwavering commitment to legal excellence. Her elevation to partner not only recognizes her exceptional skills but also her dedication to our firm’s values and mission. We are excited to welcome her to our leadership team.”
Cyrus D. Mehta & Partners PLLC is renowned for its commitment to providing personalized and exceptional legal services in the field of immigration law. Under Wadhia’s supervision, students in the clinic engage in community outreach and education on topics such as immigration remedies for victims of crimes and changing immigration policy. The clinic has also provided legal support in individual cases at the Department of Homeland Security and in the courts.
