UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The annual Penn State THON 5K powered by PNC will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20.
This year's race is themed "Explore Endless Possibilities," and a portion of each registration fee goes directly toward THON's yearlong fundraising effort in the battle against childhood cancer. At the event, there will be opportunities to interact with Four Diamonds families, meet THON volunteers, listen to live music, purchase THON merchandise and more.
The festivities will be held outside the Bryce Jordan Center near Gate A, on the University Park campus, where the race route will begin. The day's timeline includes:
- 8 a.m. - Runner bib pickup opens
- 9:35 a.m. - Food trucks open
- 10 a.m. - Line dance and family speaker
- 11:10 a.m. - Kids race
- 11:30 a.m. - THON 5K powered by PNC begins
- 11:45 a.m. - Press conference
- Noon - Donny Burns and the 3rd degree performance
- 1:30 p.m. - Closing announcements
Other entertainment throughout the day includes a DJ, show twirlers, a face painter and a balloon artist.
