UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — On Tuesday, Nov. 11, Penn State will host its annual Military Appreciation Breakfast and ceremony to honor the service and sacrifice of veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. The Military Appreciation Breakfast will be held at 9 a.m. in Heritage Hall in the HUB‑Robeson Center. The annual Veterans Day Ceremony will follow at 11:11 a.m. in front of the Old Main steps.
In the event of bad weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Heritage Hall in the HUB‑Robeson Center. The event will also be live-streamed here for those unable to attend in person.
The annual Military Appreciation Breakfast, hosted by the University’s Veteran Employee Resource Group (Vet‑aLIONce), recognizes Penn State employees who are service members and veterans for their military service and their contributions. Students, faculty and staff who currently serve or have served in the armed forces are invited to attend the breakfast, which will feature light refreshments, entertainment and networking. Attendees can register using this link. Walk-ins are also welcome.
The breakfast will include a special short film featuring Lt. Michael Murphy, a Penn State graduate and Medal of Honor recipient. This event is sponsored by PSU Vet-aLIONce Employee Resource Group, the senior director for Penn State Veterans Affairs and Services, the Office of Human Resources, and the Penn State Student Veterans Organization.
Attendees are encouraged to bring an old guitar to the event to provide free instruments to Veterans through Guitars 4 Vets. Penn State Human Resources will also have a table at the event to answer questions related to military service and Penn State benefits.
If special accommodations are needed, contact Sharon Lucas at VetLady@psu.edu as soon as possible.
