LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — The public is invited to the grand reopening of the Coal and Coke Heritage Center from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, in the lower level of the Penn State Fayette Library, located at 2201 University Drive in Lemont Furnace.
The event will feature light hors d’oeuvres, coffee and a reading from the book "Common Lives of Uncommon Strength," which explores the history of the women who lived in southwestern Pennsylvania's coal and coke era from 1880 to 1970. Guests will be among the first to explore the center’s beautifully renovated exhibits, which showcase authentic artifacts and stories from the region’s rich coal and coke history. Admission is free and open to all. Registration is not required, but individuals may mark themselves as "Interested" on Penn State Fayette's official event page on Facebook.
