UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State is improving access to visitor parking for individuals with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) parking needs by expanding the use of HONK, the University’s digital parking payment system, to additional high‑demand locations across campus.

As part of Phase 1 of a larger ADA parking modernization project, Transportation Services is introducing a new ADA visitor parking zone using HONK, replacing the existing ParkMobile ADA zone at six campus parking areas. This update helps provide more convenient, all‑day ADA visitor parking options across campus, while offering a simple, mobile‑friendly way to pay without needing to visit a kiosk or the Transportation Services Office.

New ADA Visitor Parking locations (Phase 1)

Beginning with Phase 1, ADA visitor parking at the following locations will transition to HONK, effective immediately:

  • Brown A
  • Green N1 (Stuckeman Building area)
  • Silver B
  • Red V
  • Yellow E
  • Lion Shrine / Rec Hall

Most locations will use the HONK zone PSUADA. ADA parking near the Lion Shrine and Rec Hall will use a dedicated zone, RECADA. New signage at each location will clearly identify the HONK ADA zones and provide a text-to-pay number for payment.

Improved convenience for visitors with ADA Parking needs

The transition to HONK allows ADA visitors to:

  • Park for longer durations, including all‑day stays where permitted
  • Pay quickly using a smartphone — no app download required
  • Extend parking sessions remotely without returning to their vehicle

This phase establishes the foundation for a broader expansion of ADA HONK parking across campus, with additional locations planned in future phases.
