Movin' On music festival announces lineup for May 1 student send-off event

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Movin’ On, Penn State’s student-run music festival, presents its lineup for its annual festival at the IM Fields on May 1. The lineup includes Zara Larsson, the Dare, and That Mexican OT, as well as Slayyyter — the Student Programming Association’s (SPA) sponsored act, and the BATTLE winner. Zara Larsson is headlining the festival.

Movin’ On is an 18+ music festival for all Penn State students; entry requires a valid Penn State student ID or government-issued ID.

As one of the top student-run music festivals in the country, Movin’ On aims to provide a large variety of performers to celebrate the yearly send-off of Penn State’s graduating students. Celebrating its 51st year, Movin’ On continues to provide the festival free of charge for students to enjoy live music and entertainment.

Taking the stage first will be the winner of BATTLE, the annual competition where Penn State student performers vie for the opening slot at the festival. The BATTLE 2026 winner will be announced after the competition on March 31 at Schwab Auditorium.

After the student performance, Slayyyter will take the stage. Slayyyter is a St. Louis-born singer-songwriter and pop artist who first built a following online before releasing her self-titled project "Slayyyter" in 2019. She officially released her third full-length album, "WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA," on March 27, The album’s rollout has generated strong attention with singles including “BEAT UP CHANEL$,” “CANNIBALISM!,” and “CRANK,” building momentum ahead of her first major-label release.

Following these acts, That Mexican OT will take the stage. Born Virgil René Gazca and raised in Bay City, he has become one of the most distinctive new voices in Texas rap by fusing Southern hip-hop energy with Tejano and Chicano influences, a style Pitchfork has described as "a culture-forward blend of regional sounds and swagger." He debutted with album "Lonestar Luchador" in July 2023 and in 2024, he released "Texas Technician," led by the single “02.02.99.” Most recently, he released his 2025 album "Recess."

Just in time for sunset, Movin’ On 2026 will continue with the Dare. The Dare is the solo project of vocalist, songwriter and producer Harrison Patrick Smith, a New York–based artist who broke through with the ubiquitous “Girls” and quickly became known for sharp, dance-rock energy and chaotic, electric live shows. His "The Sex EP" drew widespread praise and helped launch a run of sold-out dates across North America and Europe, while his signature downtown Manhattan party "Freakquencies" has cemented his reputation as both a performer and a DJ.

Zara Larsson will cap off the night as headliner for the event. Larsson is a Swedish pop singer and songwriter who first rose to national attention after winning the Swedish talent show "Talang" in 2008, then broke internationally with breakout singles including “Lush Life.” Her catalog spans multiple studio albums, including "So Good," "Poster Girl," "Venus," and her 2025 album "Midnight Sun." Her title track “Midnight Sun” earned her first U.S. Grammy Awards nomination (Best Dance Pop Recording).
