McKEESPORT, Pa. — Award-winning freelance writer and McKeesport native Keith Paradise will share his experiences in journalism on Oct. 20 as the next speaker for the “In Greater Context: Media, Messaging and the Mon Valley” series, presented by Penn State Greater Allegheny and Tube City Community Media, LLC.
Paradise spent a decade as a newspaper reporter in Pennsylvania, beginning as a stringer for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review while completing his degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He later covered sports and education before becoming a freelance writer. His work has appeared on Defector, an independent online sports and culture publication, as well as in Explore PA magazine and Billiards Digest magazine, where he now serves as a senior writer. Paradise has also received recognition from the Pennsylvania Keystone Press Awards.
Paradise will speak from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the Ostermayer Room of the Student Community Center at the Greater Allegheny campus. The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
Through “In Greater Context,” the Greater Allegheny campus and Tube City Community Media bring journalists and other media professionals with ties to the region to campus to share their experiences and discuss media careers, media literacy, and the changing media landscape.
