McKEESPORT, Pa. — Members of Social Work at Greater Allegheny and the Psychology Club participated in the annual NAMIWalks event on Oct. 5, raising $1,149 to support mental health awareness.
Penn State Greater Allegheny’s student-participants also won the organization’s t-shirt contest, earning recognition among other participating groups.
NAMIWalks, organized by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is one of the nation’s top peer-to-peer fundraising events, supporting NAMI’s mission of education, advocacy, support and public awareness. The initiative hosts more than 190 community walks nationwide each year to promote “Mental Health for All.”
Associate Teaching Professor Jennifer Croyle praised the students for their commitment to community engagement and advocacy, with a special acknowledgment towards Chazdine Harmon, the team’s top fundraiser, who contributed $176 toward the total.
