UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In honor of the Jewish holiday Hanukkah, Chabad of Penn State will light a 12-foot menorah at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, at Old Main on the University Park campus, followed by a community celebration. Open to the public, the ceremony will feature the lighting of the menorah and an array of entertainment for all ages, as well as hot drinks and a selection of traditional Hanukkah foods.
The menorah will be one of more than 15,000 large public menorahs throughout the world, including those in front of the White House, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, the Great Wall of China, and Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate.
