UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, several events are being offered for Penn State campus and local community members in remembrance of those who lost their lives.
Events commemorating 9/11 are open to all students, faculty and staff regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, race or any other protected class.
Penn State University Park
Flag placements on Old Main lawn
Tuesday, Sept. 8, 6:30 p.m., Old Main lawn.
The College Republicans and College Democrats student organizations at Penn State will lead the placement of 2,977 American flags on Old Main lawn to honor each victim of the 9/11 attacks. Members of the Penn State and local communities are invited to participate. The flags will be on display through 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.
“9/11: Reclaiming Ground Zero” film screening and discussion hosted by the McCourtney Institute for Democracy
Thursday, Sept. 10, 7 p.m., Carnegie Cinema (113 Carnegie Building).
The McCourtney Institute for Democracy will mark the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11 by showing a documentary that explores what happened when thousands of New Yorkers came together to deliberate the future of Ground Zero. The film explores how structured dialogue and public participation can help communities navigate complex decisions and moments of national significance. A panel discussion with Penn State faculty members John Gastil, Ekaterina Haskins and Brad Vivian will follow the screening. Old Main lawn 9/11 memorial service

The College Republicans at Penn State will host a memorial service to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks.
9/11 Memorial Exhibition hosted by the Stuckeman School, College of Arts and Architecture
Friday, Sept. 4, to Friday, Sept. 25, 1st floor, Stuckeman Family Building.
The Stuckeman School at the College of Arts and Architecture is hosting an exhibition of work designed by architecture students in remembrance of the 10 Penn State alumni who died in the attacks on the World Trade Center. The exhibition, which will be on display on the first floor of the Stuckeman Family Building from Sept. 4-25, will also feature work by architecture alumni who have designed memorial structures.

The Penn State DuBois community will gather at Schoch Plaza to commemorate the anniversary of 9/11. The annual observance provides students, faculty and staff an opportunity to remember those who lost their lives and reflect on the significance of the day.

9/11 Never Forget Project
Thursday, Sept. 10, 11 a.m., Vartan Plaza.
This event is hosted by Penn State Harrisburg Young Americans for Freedom student club to honor those lost Sept. 11, 2001. The public is invited to place American flags in the ground in remembrance. Flags will remain in Vartan Plaza until noon on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

9/11 Remembrance Service
9 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11, Mall Walkway.
Penn State Hazleton's Student Government Association will be leading the placement of American flags across the Mall Walkway. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate. The flags will be on display until Monday, Sept. 14.
