MEDIA, Pa. – Penn State will celebrate its 11th GivingTuesday on Dec. 2, and Penn State Brandywine invites alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends to participate by showing support for the Center for Social Impact and Student Affairs’ Alternative Spring Break, the Emergency Scholarship Fund and Academic Affairs’ undergraduate research and internship funding assistance.
Although GivingTuesday takes place on Dec. 2, Penn State will be kicking off the celebration early on Monday, Dec. 1, at 18:55 — 6:55 p.m. EST — to commemorate the year the University was founded. Those interested in contributing to Penn State Brandywine’s fundraising efforts before December can make an early gift on the University’s GivingTuesday event page.
The three funds are part of a campus-wide network and culture of support for Brandywine students:
- The Center for Social Impact and Student Affairs’ Alternative Spring Break program will provide students with the opportunity to engage in meaningful service experiences during the spring break period. The first trip will be in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, where students will volunteer their time and skills to support affordable housing projects.
- The Emergency Scholarship Fund supports Penn State Brandywine undergraduate students who encounter unexpected financial setbacks that threaten their ability to complete their degree.
- Academic Affairs’ undergraduate research and internship funding assistance will directly support Penn State Brandywine students as they pursue opportunities that prepare them for future success.
“GivingTuesday is a meaningful day for Penn State Brandywine, where we come together as a community to raise funds for programs that advance student success,” said Regional Chancellor Marilyn J. Wells. “We really care for what our students accomplish both inside and outside the classroom, and we want to make sure they reach their highest potential.”
Gifts made on GivingTuesday advance the University’s historic land-grant mission to serve and lead. Through philanthropy, alumni and friends are helping students to join the Penn State family and prepare for lifelong success; driving research, outreach and economic development that grow our shared strength and readiness for the future; and increasing the University’s impact for families, patients and communities across the commonwealth and around the world.
