MEDIA, Pa. — Katie Horn joined Penn State Brandywine as a part-time administrative assistant for academic affairs in September. Coming from Delaware County Community College, Horn is looking forward to learning about what makes Brandywine unique and meeting the campus community.

“Katie comes to us with extensive experience at Delaware County Community College and the Art Institute of Philadelphia. We are thrilled to have her join the academic affairs team,” said Gail Wray, academic program coordinator for academic affairs.

Horn has been working in higher education for nearly 15 years, including in the admissions office at the Art Institute of Philadelphia and with dual enrollment and retention at Delaware County Community College. After the grant for her previous position ended, she decided to work at Penn State Brandywine because she wanted to continue working in higher education, admired Penn State’s culture as well as the longevity of the staff on campus.

“I love the longevity of a lot of the people who work here or have worked here. I also felt very familiar with the area because we worked with Penn State Brandywine a lot at the community college,” she said.

In terms of her goals, Horn said she wants to learn about the campus as much as she can and embrace the culture.

“I really want to learn all the nuances between the different campuses and what makes Penn State Brandywine so unique and special,” she said. “I want to embrace the culture of Penn State. It’s so different than the culture we had at the community college.”

Outside of work, Horn enjoys spending time with her four kids and taking them to sporting events and festivals.
