MEDIA, Pa. — Penn State Brandywine will host its third annual cybersecurity conference on Friday, Oct. 24. The conference will honor John “Andy” Landmesser, founding faculty member of the conference and longtime Brandywine faculty member, who died in February 2024.

The conference will feature informative presentations from field experts about all aspects of cybersecurity, including threats, breaches, ethical hacking, current trends, investigations and incident response.

“It is exciting for Penn State Brandywine to be hosting this regional professional conference in cybersecurity. October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and this conference will have several speakers from the field of cybersecurity to present on current trends,” said Pamela King, lecturer in information sciences and technology and conference organizer.

“We are so honored to have the Landmesser family support the conference with a generous contribution in memory of Andy Landmesser, who was instrumental in the cybersecurity program at Penn State Brandywine, and who started this annual conference tradition," King said. "We hope that he would approve of our efforts in the conference this year.”

The conference is serving as a tribute to Landmesser and is named after the cherished professor, King added. Known for his dedication to student success and passion for the cybersecurity and technology fields, Landmesser was a driving force behind Brandywine’s commitment to preparing students for life after graduation.

“Andy always tried to bring out the best in everyone. He lived by his motto: God, family and country,” said John J. Landmesser, Andy’s father.

Steve Ramsey, chief cybersecurity officer and co-founder of IronGate — a cybersecurity firm that provides services including digital forensics and incident response — will give a keynote address about crossroads in the industry. Ramsey has spent the past two decades helping his clients protect, investigate and respond to events involving their digital interests.

The conference is free and open to all in the Brandywine community as well as the general public. Registration and additional information are available on the conference website.
