MEDIA, Pa. — Penn State alumna Chabreena Dixon-Corbin, class of 2014, is making a difference in others’ lives as an outpatient therapist.
Dixon-Corbin began her Penn State journey at Harrisburg in 2010. In 2012, after the birth of her son, she came to Brandywine to be closer to home while still receiving her education from Penn State.
“I originally went to Penn State Harrisburg because I felt like I needed to be away from home and away from any distractions to excel in school, and I did,” she said. “After my son was born, I knew I had to come back home. I transitioned to Penn State Brandywine and brought my son with me to campus.”
Dixon-Corbin said she loved Brandywine because it felt very family-oriented.
“What I really loved about Brandywine is that it had the same family-oriented feeling as Harrisburg. Although I came to a different campus, I feel like I didn’t miss a beat,” she said.
During her time at Brandywine, Dixon-Corbin was a student worker in the information technology services department. She noted her favorite memories were made in that office.
“My favorite memory was working with IT. They were so accepting of me back then, especially Theresa Walls, former administrative assistant in IT, and Justin DiMatteo, director of IT,” she said. “Getting to know everyone in the department was one of my greatest memories. They were all so nice.”
Upon graduating from Penn State, Dixon-Corbin went on to attend graduate school at Wilmington University, receiving her master’s degree in human services. She currently holds four roles, serving as a utilization review coordinator at the Horsham Clinic and an outpatient therapist with Family and Community Service of Delaware County. In addition, she is the founder and owner of two businesses: Corbin Counseling LLC, a private counseling practice, and NYNO Body Products LLC, a skincare brand.
Dixon-Corbin is also a member of the Brandywine Alumni Society. Joining the chapter in 2024, she wanted to get involved with the Brandywine community because she wanted to give back to a community that gave her so much.
