Page Center to host free webinar on AI ethics in crisis communication

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Arthur W. Page Center for Integrity in Public Communication is hosting a free webinar featuring industry and academic experts of public crisis management. “AI collaboration in managing crisis, risk and disaster”  will focus on the use of artificial intelligence in emergency communications, at noon on Feb. 24. Viewers will learn about the implications of using emerging technologies in crisis situations. Register here.

The discussion will focus on an academic and practitioner collaboration that revealed insights on trust in AI-generated emergency messaging and innovative strategies for implementing emerging technologies while maintaining public responsibility. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.

Panelists include Alice Cheng, associate professor of communications at North Carolina State University; Yan Jin, C. Richard Yarbrough professor in crisis communication leadership at the University of Georgia; and Philippe Borremans, an expert in risk, crisis and emergency communication. The panel will be moderated by Gary Sheffer, former vice president of corporate communications at General Electric and current member of the Page Center advisory board. The Page Center is a research center housed in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications at Penn State.
