UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A feature film directed by Izabel Pakzad, who earned her bachelor’s degree from the Penn State Bellisario College of Communications in 2016, will have a free preview screening and question-and-answer session will happen on April 22 at the State Theatre in downtown State College.
“Find Your Friends” will screen at 7 p.m. April 22. Doors open at 6 p.m. and Penn State students may claim free tickets. The film’s official release will be June 12.
The film follows a group of friends on what is supposed to be a fun girls’ trip that changes when they face hostility from people who live in the vacation town — and then it escalates when the group discovers the dark past of one member of the traveling party. As a result, the getaway turns into a game of revenge.
Pakzad, who wrote and directed the film, also has a role as a member of the girls making the ill-fated trip. The movie was influenced, in part, by a real-life situation for Pakzad, who will participate in a post-screening Q&A. As an actress, Pakzad also has appeared in “Birds of Prey” and “The Deuce” (HBO).
“Find Your Friends” debuted at the Fantasia Film Festival in Canada and later screened at festivals in Italy and Spain. Its U.S. premiere was at Fantastic Fest in Texas.
