UNIVERSITY PARK, Ps. —“To Kill a Nazi,” a Penn State faculty member's critically acclaimed documentary, will screen as an official selection at major film festivals in Austin, London and Hong Kong in the coming weeks.
The documentary feature by Boaz Dvir, an associate professor in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, will screen Oct. 31 and Nov. 4 at the Austin Film Festival and Nov. 8 and Nov. 11 at international Jewish film festivals in London and Hong Kong, respectively.
“To Kill a Nazi,” which tells the story of a French businessman who set out to kill his father’s Nazi executioner, will debut in New York City at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at Regal Battery Park as part of the Chelsea Film Festival. Earlier that day, Dvir will participate in the festival’s “After the Premiere: Building a Lasting Impact” panel discussion at Manhattan’s TBN Studios.
“I’m grateful for such wonderful opportunities to engage with audiences about nonfiction storytelling,” said Dvir, founder and director of Penn State’s Hammel Family Human Rights Education Initiative. “I’m in awe of the power of true stories to open hearts and minds and invite honest, respectful conversations about difficult topics.”
Narrated by actor Jason Alexander, “To Kill a Nazi” recently won an Honorable Mention at Dances With Films after screening at Hollywood’s historic Chinese Theatre and landing a sales deal with international distributor Go2Films.
The Los Angeles Times called the documentary “stirring” and Forbes described it as “something ripped from the pages of a bestselling spy thriller.”
The other “To Kill a Nazi” producers include Matthew Einstein, CEO of Tradition Pictures, and Gayle Zachmann, associate director of the University of Florida Bud Shorstein Center for Jewish Studies.
