ERIE, Pa. — Penn State Behrend will roll out a blue-and-white welcome mat at this year’s Parents, Families, and Alumni Weekend, on Oct. 17-19. The program, which includes a carnival, a picnic lunch and tours of the historic Glenhill Farmhouse, is a fall tradition at Behrend.
Registration for the weekend’s events is now open at the Parents, Families, and Alumni Weekend webpage.
“Fall is such a beautiful time here at Behrend, and it provides the perfect backdrop to invite all members of the Behrend community to come together and celebrate the college,” Chancellor Ralph Ford said.
The weekend offers something for everyone: a chance to reconnect with classmates, explore campus with your student, or simply soak in the autumn colors.
Friday’s programming will include a new event: An all-alumni celebration that will bring together alumni from every generation for a night of connection, pride and recognition of Alumni Award recipients. The program begins at 6 p.m. in McGarvey Commons.
On Saturday, the young and young-at-heart will enjoy an all-ages family carnival with games of chance, inflatables and crafts. Other programming includes a family lunch, campus walking tours, planetarium shows and a free ice cream social with music by the Behrend pep band.
The day’s program will build to what has long been one of Behrend’s most unique and popular student events — Midnight Bingo — with a family-friendly 7 p.m. start time.
Throughout the weekend, guests are invited to use their cell phones to capture photos on a five-stop “selfie walk,” which includes the new Glenhill Gardens. The Glenhill Farmhouse will be open for guided tours.
Visitors who prefer a faster pace can register for the Behrend Benefiting THON 5K, which begins at 10 a.m. Sunday.
