The Penn State Behrend wrestling team defeated Penn State Altoona and Alfred State at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference duals at Pitt-Bradford on Jan. 11. Cole Neil, a sophomore from St. Marys, and Steffan Lynch, a sophomore from North East, each posted a 3-0 record.
Behrend’s basketball teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:
Men’s basketball
- Pitt-Bradford 85, Penn State Behrend 81
- Penn State Altoona 78, Penn State Behrend 76
Tommy DiRienzo, a senior from Pittsburgh, scored a game-high 34 points against Pitt-Bradford. He was 11-for-13 from the free throw line. Matthew McDonough, a junior from Pittsburgh, scored a game-high 25 points against Penn State Altoona.
Women’s basketball
- Penn State Behrend 93, Pitt-Bradford 42
- Penn State Behrend 88, Penn State Altoona 70
Rachel Majewski, a senior from Erie, scored 33 points against Penn State Altoona. Morgan Altavilla, a junior from Pittsburgh, scored 17 points.
Wrestling

- Penn College 29, Penn State Behrend 13
Matt Caldwell, a sophomore from North Tonawanda, New York, won twice by pin in the 285-pound bouts. Nolan Fenton, a sophomore from Kersey, won by pin and technical fall in the 197-pound bouts.
