ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend wrestling team won seven of 10 bouts against Mercyhurst University, finishing 34-13. The wins included two pins, three technical falls, one major decision and one decision.
Rudy Brown, a sophomore from Burgettstown, won by pin in the 149-pound bout. Louie DeJulia, a freshman from Transfer, won by pin in the 184-pound bout.
The Lions host Gannon on Friday, Feb. 6.
Behrend’s basketball, swimming and diving, volleyball and bowling teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:
Men’s basketball
- Pitt-Greensburg 67, Penn State Behrend 55
- Penn State Behrend 68, Alfred State 45
Jacob Dunkle, a freshman from Washington, scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against Alfred State. Nate Edwards, a sophomore from Girard, scored 15 points.
Women’s basketball
- Penn State Behrend 103, Pitt-Greensburg 47
- Penn State Behrend 72, Alfred State 67
Morgan Altavilla, a senior from Pittsburgh, scored 22 points against Alfred State. Julia Balaski, a senior from Mercer, scored 20 points against Pitt-Greensburg.
Men’s swimming and diving
- Penn State Behrend 128, Fredonia 42
- Gannon 170, Penn State Behrend 118
The 400 medley relay team – Isaac Stoeckle, Will Perham, Ryan Okey and Anthony Tumino – set a school record against Fredonia, finishing in 3:26.27. The 200 medley relay team – Stoeckle, Perham, Tumino and Zachary Turner – set pool and team records against Gannon, finishing in 1:31.41.
Women’s swimming and diving
- Penn State Behrend 110, Fredonia 48
- Gannon 198, Penn State Behrend 71
Camryn Watters, a junior from Greensburg, won the 200 free against Fredonia, finishing in 2:03.92. She won the 100 backstroke against Gannon, finishing in 1:00.96. Diver Amanda Sperandio, a freshman from Monongahela, won the one-meter event against Gannon, finishing with 135.05 points.
Men’s volleyball

- Penn State Behrend 3, Hiram 0
- Grove City 3, Penn State Behrend 0
Jack Wilcox, a sophomore from Erie, had 11 kills against Geneva. Luke Mumpower, a senior from North Huntingdon, had 32 assists against Hiram – 13 of them in the second set.

Lillie Holt, a senior from Pulaski, scored a team-best 208 in the day’s first Baker match. Dee Dee Elijah, a sophomore from Tallmadge, Ohio, scored a 191 in the second Baker match.
