The Penn State Behrend women’s volleyball team was undefeated at the two-day Bobcat Invitational in Latrobe. The team won three of its four matches in straight sets:
- Penn State Behrend 3, Waynesburg 0
- Penn State Behrend 3, St. Vincent 2
- Penn State Behrend 3, Bethany 0
- Penn State Behrend 3, Westminster 0
Cadence Jones, a sophomore from North East, had 20 kills and 15 digs against St. Vincent. Addica Sperry, a freshman from Conneaut Lake, had 14 kills and 14 digs against Bethany.
Behrend’s soccer, cross country and golf teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:
Men’s soccer
- Penn State Behrend 2, Baldwin Wallace 1
- Penn State Behrend 1, Allegheny 1
Andrew Lucas, a sophomore from Butler, scored the go-ahead goal with 1:45 remaining in the game against Baldwin Wallace. It was his first collegiate goal. Andy Jones, a junior from Girard, scored against Allegheny.
Women’s soccer
- Penn State Behrend 1, John Carroll 1
- Messiah 3, Penn State Behrend 0
Alayna Winters, a sophomore from Clearfield, scored the goal against John Carroll. Goalkeeper Riley Morningstar, a senior from North Huntingdon, made four saves.
Men’s cross country
- Second (of 10 teams) at the St. John Fisher Rodenbeck Invitational
Kody Klein, a senior from North East, placed 16th in a field of 131 runners. He completed the 6K race in 20:02.3. Drew Knight, a sophomore from Butler, placed 23rd. He finished in 20:13.
Women’s cross country
- Sixth (of 11 teams) at the St. John Fisher Rodenbeck Invitational
Kelsey Hanna, a freshman from Cranberry Township, placed 46th in a field of 150 runners. She completed the 4K race in 16:31.8. Lindsey Hartle placed 47th, finishing in 16:32.3
Men’s golf
- Sixth (of 14 teams) at the Pitt-Bradford Invitational
JR Hufnagel, a junior from Evans City, tied for 14th in a field of 71 golfers. He shot a 77. William Neumaier, a senior from Erie, tied for 26th. He shot a 79.
