ERIE, Pa. — Penn State Behrend track and field athlete Jessica Park set a school record in the hammer throw at Carnegie Mellon University on March 28. Park, a senior from East Meadow, New York, recorded a 42.26-meter throw in her first attempt. She placed seventh.

In the men’s events, Carter Tobin, a sophomore from Irwin, won the 100-meter race, finishing in 10.64 seconds. He placed second in the 200, finishing in 22.45 seconds.

Lee Qualk, a freshman from Coal Center, tied for second place in the long jump, clearing a distance of 6.42 meters.

Behrend’s baseball, softball, volleyball and water polo teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:

Baseball

  • Mt. Aloysius 5, Penn State Behrend 4
  • Penn State Behrend 27, Mt. Aloysius 5
  • Penn State Behrend 5, Allegheny 4

The Lions scored 12 runs in the first inning of the nightcap against Mt. Aloysius. David Gibson, a junior from North East, hit a triple, earning three RBIs, and then hit a three-run home run.

Softball

  • Penn State Behrend 3, Pitt-Greensburg 1
  • Penn State Behrend 11, Pitt-Greensburg 4
  • Mount Union 4, Penn State Behrend 2
  • Mount Union 9, Penn State Behrend 6

Meghan Swain, a senior from Sugarcreek, Ohio, hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning of the nightcap against Pitt-Greensburg. She hit a three-run home run in the following inning. Hannah Smith, a sophomore from Harborcreek, hit a home run in each game against Mount Union.

Men’s volleyball

  • Penn State Behrend 3, Mt. Aloysius 0
  • Penn State Behrend 3, Hilbert 0

Jack Wilcox, a sophomore from Erie, had nine kills against Hilbert. Logan Unger, a freshman from Buffalo, New York, had 14 assists and seven digs.

Women’s water polo

  • Augustana 20, Penn State Behrend 11
  • Austin 17, Penn State Behrend 13
  • Penn State Behrend 16, Carthage 12
  • Macalester 20, Penn State Behrend 7

Susie Carrillo, a junior from Fresno, California, scored four goals against Carthage. Karis Barth, a freshman from Flower Mound, Texas, and Darragh Martin, a senior from Green Lane, each scored three goals against Augustana.
