ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend swimming and diving teams set pool and team records at the Fredonia Blue Devil Invite. The men’s team won the three-day invitational; the women’s team placed second.
The men’s 200 medley relay team — Isaac Stoeckle, Will Perham, Zach Turner and Anthony Tumino — finished in 1:32.37, setting a pool record. Tumino, a senior from Hershey, also won the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 56.96. Stoeckle, a sophomore from Pittsburgh, won the 200 backstroke, finishing in 1:54.32 — a personal best.
The women’s 800 free relay team — Kaitlyn True, Kallie Smith, Logan Wilson and Isabel Sheridan — set a team record, finishing second, in 7:59.05. Smith, a sophomore from Oil City, also won the 400 IM, finishing in 4:40.44. She finished nearly six seconds ahead of the next swimmer.
Behrend’s basketball, volleyball, water polo and wrestling teams also were in action before the Thanksgiving break. Here are the scores and highlights:

- Carnegie Mellon 78, Penn State Behrend 62

The Lions were 24-for-24 at the free-throw line against Thiel. Jacob Dunkle, a freshman from Washington, scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Women’s basketball
- Chatham 92, Penn State Behrend 52
- St. Vincent 75, Penn State Behrend 58
- Penn State Behrend 87, Waynesburg 74
Julia Balaski, a senior from Mercer, scored a career-high 22 points against Waynesburg. Morgan Altavilla, a senior from Pittsburgh, scored 20 points.
Women’s volleyball
- La Verne 3, Penn State Behrend 1
The Lions exited the NCAA Division III tournament with the loss to No. 2 La Verne. It was the first time a Behrend team won a set in the tournament. The team ended the season with a 22-8 record.

- Johns Hopkins 25, Penn State Behrend 8
- Penn State Behrend 14, Connecticut 7
- UCLA 36, Penn State Behrend 4
The Lions placed fourth at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships in Los Angeles. Nick Thompson, a sophomore from Hudsonville, Michigan, scored five goals against Austin. Caden Currykosky, a freshman from Wexford, scored four goals against Connecticut.
Wrestling
- Eighth (of 13 teams) at the Baldwin Wallace Invitational
- Penn State Behrend 38, Pitt-Bradford 12
Matthew Caldwell, a junior from North Tonawanda, New York, won the heavyweight bout against Pitt-Bradford, pinning his opponent in just 17 seconds.
