ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend men’s tennis team has won four consecutive matches. Last week, the team defeated Houghton, 5-2, and Penn State Altoona, 4-3.

Four of the six singles matches against Penn State Altoona required tiebreaker sets.

Carson Souser, a sophomore from Clay, New York, won at No. 3 singles against Altoona, finishing with scores of 7-6, 4-6 and 12-10. He partnered with Paul Flick, a junior from Erie, to win at No. 2 doubles, 6-1.

Behrend’s baseball, softball, volleyball, swimming and diving, bowling and water polo teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:

Baseball

  • Penn State Behrend 8, Penn State Altoona 3
  • Penn State Behrend 16, Penn State Altoona 6

Thomas Nicely, a senior from Delmont, hit a home run in each game. Silvio Ionadi, a senior from Pittsburgh, earned his 100th career RBI in the nightcap.

Softball

  • Carnegie Mellon 3 Penn State Behrend 0
  • Penn State Behrend 5, Carnegie Mellon 3

The Lions scored five runs on 10 hits in the nightcap. Chloe Nale, a sophomore from Aliquippa, and Karma Malcolm, a sophomore from Beaver Falls, each had two hits.

Men’s volleyball

  • Penn State Behrend 3, Penn State Altoona 0
  • Buffalo State 3, Penn State Behrend 2

Cameron Schleicher, a senior from Meadville, had 15 kills, 10 digs and five block assists against Buffalo State. Jack Wilcox, a sophomore from Erie, had 10 kills and 10 digs.

Men’s swimming and diving

Isaac Stoeckle, a sophomore from Pittsburgh, placed 21st in the 100 backstroke at the NCAA Division III championships in Indianapolis. He finished in 49.07 seconds. He tied for 38th place in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 46.38 seconds. He was 48th in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 21.06 seconds.

Women’s bowling

  • Hilbert 905, Penn State Behrend 830
  • Hilbert 911, Penn State Behrend 820

The Lions exited the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championships with a loss to Hilbert in a single-elimination mega-match. Lillie Holt, a senior from Pulaski, led the team with 203 points in the traditional match. Dee Dee Elijah, a sophomore from Tallmadge, Ohio, scored 190 points in the Baker-format match.

Women’s water polo

  • Grove City 16, Penn State Behrend 14

Karis Barth, a freshman from Flower Mound, Texas, scored five goals.
