Behrend men’s soccer team earns wins against Mt. Aloysius, RIT

ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend men’s soccer team defeated Mt. Aloysius and RIT in home matches last week. Midfielder Owen Petersen, a junior from Erie, scored twice against Mt. Aloysius, each time connecting with a header.

Mason Le, a senior from Canonsburg, scored against RIT with 10 seconds remaining in the match.

The women’s team also defeated Mt. Aloysius, 6-0. Rachel Sickeri, a junior from DuBois, scored twice. The Lions lost to Carnegie Mellon, 0-1.

Behrend’s cross-country, volleyball, bowling and water polo teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:

Men’s cross-country

  • Fourth (of seven teams) at the Fredonia Kara Hall Memorial Invite

Ethan Vaughan, a freshman from Pittsburgh, placed 11th in a field of 106 runners. He finished the 8K race in 27:15.9. Aidan Reinsel, a senior from North East, placed 20th, finishing in 27:46.1.

Women’s cross-country

  • Third (of seven teams) at the Fredonia Kara Hall Memorial Invite

Lindsay Hartle, a senior from Pittsburgh, placed eighth in a field of 66 runners. She completed the 6K race in 25:03.4. Bethany Litwiler, a senior from Reynolds, placed 13th, finishing in 26:33.8.

Women’s volleyball

  • Penn State Behrend 3, RIT 1
  • Carnegie Mellon 3, Penn State Behrend 0

Hannah Smith, a sophomore from Harborcreek, had 10 kills, one solo block and five assists against RIT. Brynne Smith, a sophomore from Butler, had 33 assists and 12 digs.

Lillie Holt, a senior from Pulaski, placed 10th in a field of 52 bowlers at the Mercyhurst Invitational. She finished the two-day tournament with an average score of 187.80.

Men’s water polo

  • Biola 18, Penn State Behrend 6

Eugene Kruger, a senior from Pleasanton, California, and Caden Currykosky, a freshman from Wexford, each scored two goals against Chapman.
