ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend men’s basketball team is 7-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play. The team travels to Pitt-Bradford on Jan. 21.
The Lions, who are 11-5 overall, defeated Hilbert on Jan. 14, winning 81-69. Matthew McDonough, a senior from Pittsburgh, scored a season-high 28 points. Nate Edwards, a sophomore from Girard, scored 19 points.
The women’s basketball team also defeated Hilbert, 74-43. Emma Marsteller, a sophomore from Sandy Lake, scored a career-high 15 points.
Behrend’s swimming and diving and wrestling teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:
Men’s swimming and diving
- Grove City 188, Penn State Behrend 100
Isaac Stoeckle, a sophomore from Pittsburgh, won the 200 backstroke (1:58.43) and placed second in the 100 backstroke (53.07). Zachary Carpeal, a sophomore from Donora, won the three-meter diving event, scoring 124.55 points.
Women’s swimming and diving
- Grove City 179, Penn State Behrend 105
Kaitlyn True, a freshman from Denton, Texas, won the 500 free (5:27.88) and the 1,000 free (11:15.38). Camryn Watters, a junior from Greensburg, won the 50 free (25.31) and the 200 backstroke (2:12.05).
Wrestling
- St. John Fisher 32, Penn State Behrend 16
Evan Whiteside, a senior from Monroeville, won by pin in the 133-pound bout. Louie DeJulia, a freshman from Transfer, won an 8-0 major decision in the 184-pound bout.
