UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The HUB-Robeson Galleries is hosting "A Brief Moment in the Sun," an exhibition of paintings by Pittsburgh-based artist Jamie Earnest. This exhibit has been on display in Art Alley since June 20 and will run through Oct. 14.

Earnest's work hovers between the familiarity and ghostly incorporation of shadows, silhouettes and surfaces that serve as both material and metaphor.

All are welcome to attend the celebratory reception being held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Art Alley, HUB-Robeson Center.

Earnest’s work draws deeply from her Southern upbringing, where identity was shaped by an acute awareness of what was seen and unseen, spoken and unspoken. The work insists on engaging discomfort not as a sight of fear, but a space of possibility. In these instances, ghostly presences become a generative force. It allows space for disorientation for estrangement, and ultimately for deeper attention.
