Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra to present joint concert Nov. 19

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra, from the School of Music in the College of Arts and Architecture, will present their final performances of the year in a joint concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, in the Recital Hall at University Park.

Joining the Symphonic Wind Ensemble as guest conductor is Paul Popiel, dean of the College of Music at the University of Kansas. The ensemble will perform works by Björk, James Barnes, and Penn State Student Call for Scores winner Claire Brown. The Chamber Orchestra, directed by Professor Gerardo Edelstein, will perform "La Calaca" for string orchestra by Gabriela Ortiz and Aaron Copland’s "Appalachian Spring: Suite for 13 Instruments."

Tickets are available through the Arts Ticket Center. Prices are $12.50 for adults and $5 for students, with the box office opening one hour before each concert. A livestream will be accessible for remote viewers via the Penn State School of Music livestream page.
