The Penn State Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Gerardo Edelstein, will present a evening of orchestral masterpieces on Monday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Eisenhower Auditorium.

The concert will include Richard Wagner’s "Prelude and Liebestod" from "Tristan und Isolde," a work renowned for its lush harmonies and profound emotional depth. The program also includes Igor Stravinsky’s "Firebird Suite," a piece celebrated for its vibrant orchestration and electrifying finale.

The performance will also feature two of Penn State’s concerto competition winners. Violinist Robert Schiff will perform the first movement of Niccolò Paganini’s "Violin Concerto No. 1," a work that demands technical brilliance and expressive flair. Clarinetist Mandi Bearjar will perform Claude Debussy’s "Première Rhapsodie," an enchanting work that highlights the lyrical and expressive qualities of the clarinet.

The concert will also feature Maestro Edelstein's graduate assistant conductors Javier Gorelik and Dor Amran.
