UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State School of Music and College of Arts and Architecture alumnus Jaren Angud (master of music, 2014), drummer for the "Back to the Future: The Musical" national tour, will return to the University Park campus to present a masterclass on musical theatre percussion, drumming and careers in Broadway and professional music theatre. The event will take place from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in Esber Rehearsal Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.
Angud, a professional drummer and percussionist based in New York City, has performed in numerous touring and regional theatre productions. In this masterclass, he will share his experiences performing in large-scale musical productions, discuss the skills and preparation necessary for success in the Broadway industry, and demonstrate techniques specific to musical theatre drumming.
The event will offer students and faculty an inside look at the life of a working musician in the world of professional theatre and provide valuable guidance for those interested in similar career paths.
This masterclass is supported by the Percussion Department Endowed Excellence Fund.
