LATROBE, Pa. — Three Penn State Altoona women’s wrestlers officially received All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference honors on Feb. 18 when the league office released its postseason awards in the sport.

Gianna Slusser, of Raleigh, North Carolina, earned first-team All-AMCC recognition at 131, while Naomi Nachmias, of Fair Lawn, New Jersey, and Richele Reyes, of Buckingham, U.K., took spots on the second team at 103 and 124, respectively. All-conference team levels are determined by wrestlers’ finishes at the AMCC Championships tournament earlier this month.

Slusser won the AMCC title in the 131 weight class bracket during the conference championships on Feb. 7. She holds a 19-10 overall record for Penn State Altoona this season, leading the Lions in total wins (19) and wins by fall (8), tying for second in dual meet wins (12), and also ranking second in wins by tech fall (4). Additionally, Slusser picked up an AMCC Wrestler of the Week award on November 10.

Nachmias took second place in the 103 weight class at the AMCC Championships while compiling a 16-8 overall record this year. She ranks first on the Lions in dual meet wins (13) while also being tied for second in wins by fall (7) and third in total wins (16) and wins by tech fall (2).

Reyes was the 124 weight class bracket runner-up during the AMCC Championships. For Penn State Altoona this season, she has an 18-11 overall record and leads the Lions in wins by tech fall (7) while also being second in overall wins (18) and tied for second in dual meet wins (12) and wins by fall (7).

Penn State Altoona women’s wrestling continues its season this Feb. 20 and 21, when the Lions travel to West Virginia to compete in the NCAA Super Region II Championships, hosted by West Liberty University. Friday’s round of the tournament is set to begin at 11 a.m.
