ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn State Altoona encourages students and recent graduates with disabilities to take advantage of the Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP).
WRP is a fast-track for students with disabilities to find internships and employment with the federal government.
Students may apply to the program Aug. 17 through Oct. 4. Throughout the fall, they will participate in career development activities virtually, then begin applying for opportunities in the spring.
Students with various disabilities — which can include, but are not limited to learning, psychiatric and physical disabilities — are encouraged to apply.

WRP is recognized by the Office of Personnel Management as a model strategy in its guidance to federal agencies regarding the recruitment and hiring of people with disabilities. Since the program's expansion in 1995, thousands of students and recent graduates have received temporary and permanent employment opportunities through the WRP. WRP is managed by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy and is a talent database available to employers across the Federal Government.
