LATROBE, Pa. — Penn State Altoona student-athlete Gianna Slusser, of Raleigh, North Carolina, was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Women’s Wrestler of the Week on Nov. 10.
Slusser got a win in the 131 bout during Friday night’s dual meet at non-conference opponent Waynesburg University, as she pinned the Yellow Jackets’ Melanie Matherson in 4:02. The victory was her fifth match win of the season.
Penn State Altoona was edged 30-24 in the meet by Waynesburg.
The Lions women’s wrestling team’s next event is its home opener on Nov. 12, when it will host non-conference foe Bethany College at 6 p.m. in the Arena of the Adler Athletic Complex.
