LATROBE, Pa. — Penn State Altoona student-athlete Jayson Ireland, of Pittsburgh, was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Offensive Player of the Week for men's soccer on Sept. 8.
Ireland finished last week with one goal and one assist. Against Waynesburg, he provided the assist on the Lions' first goal and won a penalty that was converted. Then, in Saturday's game against Penn State Berks, Ireland scored the game-winner as the Lions won 1-0, completing the week with one goal, one assist and three shots on goal.
Ireland and the Penn State Altoona men's soccer team return to action on Sept. 9 as they travel to take on non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
