Penn State Altoona student-athlete Caleb Fries voted first-team All-AMCC

LATROBE, Pa. — Penn State Altoona men’s volleyball’s opposite hitter Caleb Fries, of Altoona, was voted to the first team of the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference squad, as the league office announced its postseason awards in the sport on April 14.

Fries played in all 26 matches for the Lions this season, appearing in 92 of the team’s 94 sets. Among all players in the AMCC, he ranks first in service aces (49) and aces per set (0.53), second in attacks per set (8.22), third in points (357.0), points per set (3.9), and kills (280), fourth in kills per set (3.04) and total attacks (756), 10th in solo blocks (12), block assists (32), and total blocks (44), 11th in blocks per set (0.48) and hitting percentage (.171), 21st in digs (125), and 26th in digs per set (1.36).

Fries was voted the AMCC Preseason Player of the Year heading into 2026, and he also picked up one conference Offensive Player of the Week award during the season.

Penn State Altoona men’s volleyball finished its season 9-17 overall, including 7-5 in the AMCC. The Lions placed fourth in the league’s regular-season standings and qualified for the AMCC postseason tournament, where they lost to top-seed and eventual conference champion Buffalo State University.
