SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Four Penn State Altoona men’s swimming student-athletes earned spots on the All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) team, thanks to their performances in the conference championship meet last month.
All-SUNYAC swimmers are determined by their finishes during the conference championships, which were held Feb. 18 to 21 in Buffalo, New York. Swimmers clinch spots on the all-conference team by finishing among the top three places in events.
Lions Caden Traggiai, of Saxonburg, and Pedro Teran, of Allentown, were first-team All-SUNYAC swimmers, while Adam Dotts, of Hummelstown, and Shuo Sun, of Falls Church, Virginia, took spots on the second team.
Traggiai clinched his spot on the first team when he won the 1,650 Yard Freestyle on Feb. 21 with a time of 16:16.80, a mark that also set a new Penn State Altoona men’s swimming record in that event. Teran’s first-team status was earned when he placed first in the 200 Yard Freestyle on Feb. 20 with a time of 1:43.03.
Dotts and Sun made the second team of the All-SUNYAC squad when they helped the Lions to a runner-up finish in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay, partnering with Traggiai and Teran to compile a total time of 7:01.16 to take second place in the race on Feb. 18. That time also set a new Penn State Altoona men’s swimming record for that event.
Men’s swimming ended the SUNYAC Championships in fourth place with a combined point total of 412.
