ALTOONA, Pa. — Erin Murphy, professor of English at Penn State Altoona and the 2026-27 Penn State Laureate, gave a presentation and poetry reading as part of a conference held this month in London.
Ecopoetics & Environmental Artivisim 2026, sponsored by the London Centre for Interdisciplinary Research, was held in Richmond Park, London, and online on July 16-17.
Murphy presented a virtual talk titled “Erasures, Centos, and Invented Forms as Eco-Poetic Activism” as part of a panel session titled “Ecopoetic Forms: Crystallisation, Adaptation, and Historical Erasure.” She read and discussed found poetry and demi-sonnets, a poetic form she invented.
Murphy is the author or editor of 16 books, most recently “Swoon: New & Selected Poems.”
