ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn State Altoona will offer a series of youth academies this summer for students in grades 3–12.

Participants will be able to:

  • Design, build, and race pinewood derby cars in Junior Engineering
  • Step into the role of a NASA engineer in Senior Engineering — rebuilding and racing a SMARS modular rover across a simulated Martian landscape
  • Learn to launch their own podcast in the Youth Audio Lab
  • Explore drawing, ceramics, and graphic design in a hands-on studio experience in the Visual Art Studies Arts Academy
  • Explore the world of healthcare through hands-on learning in nursing, biology, kinesiology, and psychology in Future Healthcare Professionals Academy.

All programs take place on the Penn State Altoona campus, where students experience real college labs, studios, and classrooms guided by instructors who love what they teach.

Partial and full scholarships may be offered based on financial need and availability.

Academy details, registration, and scholarship applications can be found on the Summer Academies website.
