Four Altoona women’s volleyball student-athletes receive CSC academic honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. — The College Sports Communicators released its NCAA Division III Academic All-District women’s volleyball team on Dec. 16, including four student-athletes from the Penn State Altoona squad.

To be eligible for a spot on the Academic All-District team, student-athletes must meet certain academic and athletic requirements. Academically, student-athletes must be at least sophomores while holding cumulative grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher. Athletically, players must be starters or key reserves who have played in at least 90% of their team's matches or started 66% of the matches. Nominators could submit up to four qualified student-athletes per team.

The four Penn State Altoona women's volleyball student-athletes named to the CSC's NCAA Division III Academic All-District team are:

  • Opposite hitter Maggie Brewer, of NuMine, majoring in nursing
  • Setter Julia Emel, of Woodward, majoring in human development and family studies
  • Outside hitter/libero Ella Hadley, of Spring Mills, majoring in nursing
  • Outside hitter Lia Simanski, of Altoona, majoring in business
