NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona student-athlete Hunter McMullen, of Colver, was announced as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Men’s Swimmer of the Week on Monday, Jan. 27.
McMullen helped to lead the Lions to a 3-0 week that consisted of wins over nonconference opponents Lebanon Valley College, Juniata College, and Elizabethtown College.
In last Friday night’s 159-34 victory at home over Lebanon Valley, McMullen won the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 53.77, while also being part of first-place finishes in the 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:39.64) and 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:30.25). The Lions traveled to Juniata for a tri-meet on Saturday, defeating the Eagles 186-51 and topping Elizabethtown 153-91. In the meet, McMullen earned first places in the 100 Meter Butterfly (1:00.11) and 50 Meter Butterfly (27.05) while also helping his team achieve wins in the 200 Meter Medley Relay (1:52.39) and 200 Meter Freestyle Relay (1:41.52).
This is McMullen’s first career AMCC Swimmer of the Week award.
The Penn State Altoona men’s swimming team is 8-1-1 in dual meets this season. The Lions return to action on Feb. 1, with a home meet against AMCC opponent Pitt-Bradford starting at 1 p.m.
